The co-ordinates are for the picnic area.
Come for a picnic and some caching on Brownsea Island. Bring your own picnic and have a great day out on Brownsea Island caching. The picnic will start at 1.00 p.m. but you can visit the Island via the ferry from Poole Quay from 10.00 a.m. with sailings every half hour, with the last boat back from Brownsea at 5 p.m. The ferry from Poole Quay also includes a trip around the Islands, or you can go from Sandbanks to Brownsea with the ferries sailing at the same intervals (i.e. from 10 a.m. with the last boat back from Brownsea at 5 p.m.)
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the Island unless they are registered assistance dogs
There are currently 4 caches on Brownsea Island (one of which is only a few months old) so this is an ideal opportunity to do these caches and meet up with fellow cachers.
I have also been given kind permission to place a cache on the Island by the Head Ranger on Brownsea – so I am hoping to put a cache or two out in time for the meeting.
There is parking in the multi storey car parks near Poole Quay and (if you are lucky!) you may get a parking space at Sandbanks.
The tariffs are:
Poole Quay and around the Islands return
Adult £9.00
Senior Citizen £8.00
Child £6.00
Families – 2 adults plus up to 3 children £24
Families – 1 adult plus up to 3 children £15.00
Sandbanks to Brownsea Return
Adult £5.50
Child £4.50
Families – 1 adult plus up to 3 children £10.00
Families – 2 adults plus up to 3 children £15.00
There is also a landing fee on the Island. National Trust members do not have to pay.
I have given this a 4* terrain, as special equipment is required - i.e. a boat.
Please note that visitors using wheelchairs must contact the ferry operators to discuss access to ferries.
Toilets
There are public toilets, including disabled and baby changing facilities, at the Quay and Baden Powell Outdoor Centre. The toilets at the Visitor Centre have disabled access.
The Villano Café offers cooked food and snacks and drinks. Open from 10:00 am until 30 minutes before closing time If you plan to use the cafe can you please let us know when you log a 'will attend' so we can advise the NT of numbers
