Welcome to the beautiful main entrance to Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve, a 1,011 acre oasis located just minutes away from downtown Birmingham. Come enjoy a leisurely stroll and picnic or explore the various hiking trails, observing biologically diverse native plants and birds as well as remnants of Birmingham's historical mining industry along the way. Hiking trails are open from dawn until dusk, and dogs on leash are welcome.

Ample parking is available at this entrance as well as a nice pavilion and restrooms. Visit the environmentally "green" Tree Top Nature Center where you can pick up a map of the trail system. If you plan to hike or enjoy the facilities, please consider leaving a donation of $2 per person in the donation box to help fund this preserve.
