CurlyGirl4 and I found this wonderful piece of history while hitting up the community garage sales this past weekend. This place is full of history, each headstone telling a story. With a few exceptions, we found the majority of these stones are from the mid to late 1800s. If anyone else knows anything about this area, please let us know. NEW ALEXANDRIA CEMETERIES Derry/Salem Townships, Westmoreland County, PA
This is a listing of what may have actually been four different cemeteries. The entrance to three of them is at the corner of Washington & Church Streets in New Alexandria beside the Reformed Presbyterian Church, built in 1870. The Illustrated Atlas of Westmoreland County by A. M. Davis,
1876, shows the location of the following churches at this site: 1) Coventry Church and cemetery, to the left as you drive in and behind the current church building; 2) Presbyterian Church and cemetery to the right as you drive in; and 3) United Presbyterian Church and cemetery to the rear of the latter, nearer Loyalhanna Creek.
