An off-the-map road, a beautiful but very empty village in the
mountains. Accessible and family friendly, drive to the School
House by car and then it's a short walk to the cache.
Bulgaria is full of glorious forgotten villages all slowly dying or
already dead. Gorna Bela Rechka shares this same story with so many
abandoned villages, homes, schools and life.
Gorna Bela Rechka in our eyes wants so passionately to be
remembered, the homes left by many families still remain locked,
the key held by whoever abandoned them. The people still there
welcome you with the hospitality only matched by someone wanting to
be loved.
This village, home, family, life, that welcomes you so warmly is
not looking to be reborn. It has had its time and no change is
needed here. No regeneration Gorna Bela Rechka justs wants to say
goodbye... however long that goodbye may last.
During the Goat Milk Festival this year, we performed a spontaneous
intervention led by Friction Arts that challenged us all to
question and embrace the festival's theme of Abandonment. The Blue
House is one of many Abandoned buildings and we adore it. The door
is locked and someone had the key.
The Geocache is within the village of Gorna Bela Rechka, it is
accessible by car but we suggest you park by the old School House
and walk up the track from there. The GPS will take you to a part
of the road looking at the Blue House in the picture, the cache is
hidden around here. In it you will find our stories, our goodbyes
and offerings to this Abandoned house. There is no room in this
cache to leave more than a note.
