CACHE IN HONOUR TO THE
BRAVE PORTUGUESE NAVIGATORS WHO DISCOVERED AND LANDED IN THESE
PARTS BY THE YEAR 1556 THE SIXTEENTH CENTURY.
Após ter pesquisado um pouco da história de Portugal em relação
a Timor-leste mais concretamente ao local onde desembarcaram os
primeiros portugueses neste território, e o “Oecussi” e
aproveitando o facto de ter de me deslocar a esse local em serviço
e também utilizando o barco, desde Dili até ao
“Oecusi”, numa viagem que durará sensivelmente 12
horas.
After researching a bit
about the history of Portugal over East Timor and more specifically
to where the Portuguese first landed in this territory the
"Oecussi" and taking advantage of the fact of having to travel to
that place in service and also using the boat, from Dili to the
"Oecussi", a journey that will last roughly 12 hours.
Oecussi-Ambeno é uma palavra composta com os nomes dos dois
reinos originais que formam o actual distrito, foi o primeiro ponto
da ilha de Timor em que os portugueses se estabeleceram, pelo que é
usualmente considerado o berço de Timor-Leste. Em 1556, um grupo de
frades dominicanos estabeleceu o primeiro povoado em Lifau, a meia
dúzia de quilómetros a oeste de Pante Macassar. Em 1702, Lifau
tornou-se capital da colónia ao receber o primeiro governador
enviado por Lisboa, estatuto que manteve até 1767, quando os
portugueses decidiram transferir a capital para Díli, como
resultado das frequentes incursões das forças holandesas.
Oecussi-Ambeno is a
compound word with the names of two original kingdoms that form the
current district, was the first point of the island of Timor in
which the Portuguese settled at what is usually considered the
cradle of East Timor. In 1556, a group of Dominican friars
established the first settlement in Lifau, half a dozen miles west
of Pante Macassar. In 1702, Lifau became the capital of the colony
to receive the first governor sent from Lisbon, a status he held
until 1767, when the Portuguese decided to relocate the capital
Dili as a result of the frequent incursions of the Dutch
forces.
Como disse anteriormente, aproveito esta ida ao Oecussi para
colocar uma cache em homenagem, desses bravos portugueses, que se
fizeram ao mar e aqui vieram parar…
As I said earlier, I take
this trip to Oecussi to place a cache in honor of these brave
Portuguese, who put to sea and they got here ...
A CACHE/ THE CACHE
O sitio em que pensei colocar a cache, foi o padrão erguido em
Lifau pelos primeiros Portugueses que pisaram o território, pois
era o sitio mais lógico, mas pelo facto de ser um local com muito
movimento, optei por coloca-la num ponto mais reservado e escolhi o
antigo forte português, agora em ruínas e com uma vista
espectacular sobre Ponte Macassar.
The site I thought to put
the cache, the pattern was erected in Lifau by the first Portuguese
who trod territory, it was the most logical place, but by being a
place with lots of movement, I decided to put it in a more reserved
point and chose the old Portuguese fort, now in ruins and a
spectacular view of Ponte Macassar.
