"Castelo" - Serra D´Ossa -Estremoz
A Serra d'Ossa é uma elevação de Portugal Continental, com 653 metros de altitude. Situa-se no Alto Alentejo, entre Estremoz e o Redondo. Nele se ergue, desde 1182, um convento de eremitas dedicado a São Paulo. Em 2006 ardeu uma parte. É o pulmão de vários concelhos alentejanos (Borba, Estremoz, Vila Viçosa...) Nela existem grutas artificiais do tempo dos monges eremitas, há talvez cerca de mil anos. Nela ainda se pode observar uma das maiores populações do país de uma planta insectívora chamada orvalho-do-sol (Drosophyllum lusitanicum).

Esta cache fica situada no segundo ponto mais alto da Serra D ´Ossa que na gíria betetista local denominamos como “Castelo”. No GZ vão encontrar uma torre de vigia e um marco geodésico.
A cache encontra-se escondida junto a uma formação rochosa da qual se consegue avistar todo o vale da Serra e o ponto mais alto ( S. Gens ) de outra perspectiva. Junto á vigia consegue-se outra vista diferente para Estremoz e os restantes concelhos limítrofes.
Para aceder á cache a melhor forma é de veículo todo-o-terreno e BTT. Ou então para quem tem experiencia em longas e íngremes caminhadas.

Serra d'Ossa is an elevation of mainland Portugal, with 653 meters of altitude. Situated in Alto Alentejo, between Estremoz and Redondo. In it stands, since 1182, a convent of hermits dedicated to St. Paul. It is the lung of several counties Alentejo (Borba, Estremoz, Vila Viçosa ...) There are artificial caves of hermit monks of the time, there are perhaps a thousand years. It still can be seen one of the largest populations in the country of an insect-eating plants called dew of the sun (Drosophyllum lusitanicum).

This cache is located on the second highest point of the Serra D'Ossa . The local montain bikers call it "The Castle". In the GZ will find it a watchtower and a geodesic.
The cache is hidden near a rock formation from which one can spot the whole valley of the mountains and the highest point (S. Gens) from another perspective.
To access the cache the best vehicle is 4WD and mountain biking. Or for those who have experience in long and steep hikes.
