Geocache Description:

The courthouse in Leavenworth, KS is a pretty neat building... but the WWI monument in front I have always thought was cooler. Made in the 20s in Chicago, the statue originally commemorated men killed in the First World War but has since had an update to recognize our service men who have been killed in all campaigns. A modest monument whose simplicity is appropriate for its intended recognition... it is a single soldier running into battle.

The cache itself is not on the monument. I used a magnetic key box like one puts under the bumper of their car and it would not stick to the bronze of the monument. However, the cache is within 30 ft of the monument... remember, magnets stick to iron!

Our thanks to the Leavenworth department of public works for allowing us to place this cache.
