Geocache Description:

High clearance recommended

Humboldt City located 4 1/2 miles southeast of I-80 sprang to life in the early 1860's. Many of these boom townscame into existenance because of the dream of striking it rich. The town in its hay day boasted over 200 buildings including two hotels a post office and two saloons. As so often happened in many of these towns many dreams were shattered with few being able to leave the canyon with any riches. The post office was removed in 1868 and the canyon returned to its solitude. Today some stone ruins remain.
