Sve:I Jättabacken härskade en gång i tiden i ostört majestät den mäktige jätten Finn, av ortsborna jämväl kallad Vippekull, ända till dess en dag den första kyrkklockans skälvande klang ljöd över nejden. På jättars vis greps Finn av oresonlig vrede och ville till varje pris bringa den stora skällan till tystnad. Ledd av klockklangen styrde han kosan åt sydost och fann strax nedanför kullen en fkristen präst i färd ed att bygga en kyrka. Slugt, som han själv ansåg, kom han överrens med prästen om att, om denne icke inom angiven tid kunde gissa jättens namn (detta var nämligen höljt i dunkel) så skulle prästen överlämnas som offer i jättens hand. Om prästen mot förmodan gissade rätt, skulle jätten bidraga vid kyrkobygget. Den utsatta dagen led mot sitt slut. Prästen gick i kvällningen upp på backens krön för att ta farväl av livet. Då får han inifrån berget höra jättemor sjuinga en vaggvisa för sitt bråkiga barn:
"Tig, tig liten Kinn
I morron kommer Far din
Solfager Finn
Antingen med sol och måne att leka
Eller den fete prästen att steka."
Överlycklig skyndade prästen ned till kyrkobygget, där jätten väntade och ropade: "Finn heter Du!" Överrumplad och vred i sin missräkning grep jätten västra gaveln av kyrkan och slungade den ned i den 30m djupa ravinen Helvetets håla sydost om kyrkan, där man idag kan beskåda spillrorna av denna vägg på ravinens botten medan "predikstolen" fastnat som ett utsprång på bergsstupet.

Eng:Jättabacken ruled at one time in undisturbed majesty of the mighty giant, Finn, the locals called Vippekull likewise, until one day the first church bell trembling tone sounded over the district. On giants' wise arrested Finn of unreasoning anger and wanted to bring the big bell for silence. Led by the bell-ringing he steered his course to the southeast and found just below the hill a Christian priest in the process to build a church. Slyly, as he thought, he came upon with the priest that if he is not within the specified time could guess the giant's name (this was in fact a mystery) so would the priest be sacrificed. If the priest in the unlikely guessed it, the giant would help with the church building. The appointed deadline was inpending. The priest went in the evening up the hill to say goodbye to life. Then he can hear inside the mountain, the giants mother sing a lullaby for her rowdy child:
"Tig, tig small Kinn
In the morning your Father will arrive
Beautiful Finn
Either with the sun and moon to play
Or the fat priest to fry. "
Overjoyed, the priest rushed down to the church building, where the giant waited and he shouted: "Finn is Your name!" Surprised and angry at his disappointment gripped the giant western gable of the church and hurled it into the 30m deep gorge of Hell cavern southeast of the church, which today can view the rubble of the wall on the bottom of the ravine while the "pulpit" stuck as a protrusion on the cliff.
