This is a traditional cache hidden near a stunning panoramic viewpoint right on the Shropshire Powys border. It is part of a short series of caches along Offa's Dyke Path celebrating the landscape and stories of the Shropshire Border.
If following Offa’s Dyke Path, the view is all the reward you need for what is a tough climb from either directions. The cache is hidden near the toposcope. This is one of the few places on Offa’s Dyke Path where the views are truly panoramic. West of Offa’s Dyke, you can imagine the outrage of the warriors of Eliseg, Prince of Wales and Offa’s enemy, at the king of Mercia’s extravagant earthwork.
Parking is either along the lane from a small layby next to the now redundant Nantmawr Quarry (SJ253248) but do not to go further along this lane by car. Alternatively, park at the layby SJ245243 (turn left at the cross roads towards Porthwaen). If you follow this road you can pick up Offa’s Dyke Path south of Nantmawr and follow it to the cache site.
