V tejto casti svojho toku Vah preteka cez Okolicne
Okolicne povodne samostatna obec je
prvykrat pisomne dolozena v roku 1273, avsak patri k najstarsim
obciam na Liptove. Patrila zemianskej rodine Okolicsanyiovcov,
ktorí tu dali v rokoch 1480-92 vystavat klastor s kostolom. Goticky
Kostol sv. Petra z Alkantary je dominantou vychodnej casti mesta
Liptovsky Mikulas- mestskej casti Okolicne, ktore bolo kedysi
samostatnou obcou. Na brehu Vahu vyrastol v rokoch 1480- 1492.
Kostol v Okolicnom je výtvorom cistej, vyspelej gotiky, vzacnym
odkazom sklonku stredoveku, v celku i v detailoch najkrajsou a
najcennejsou stavitelskou pamiatkou v Liptove. Jeho svatyna dlha 15
metrov je trojhranne zakoncena, osvetlena styrmi vysokými gotickymi
oknami a prekryta prekrasnou sietovou klenbou. Od lode ju oddeluje
mohutny goticky triumfalny obluk. Trojlodny priestor je zaklenuty
nadhernou hviezdicovou klenbou, ktora je podopreta siestimi
osemhrannymi stlpmi na stvorhrannych podstavcoch. Lod je dlha 27
metrov, denne svetlo do nej prenika dvomi oknami na juznej strane.
V uzadi sa vznasa nevysoky chor na troch oblukoch podopieranych
dvomi nizkymi stlpmi. Velky skvostny organ pochadza z dielne
majstra J. Tuceka z Kutnej Hory. Stvorhranná veza so slnecnymi
hodinami stojí neobvykle na juznej strane svatyne. Pod nou je
priechod do niekdajsieho frantiskanskeho klastora, ktory tvori s
kostolom jeden stavebny celok. Zo severnej strany je k lodi
pristavena kaplnka, pod ktorou sa nachadzaju hrobky zemanov z rodu
Okolicaniovcov.
V roku 1971 sa Okolicne stalo mestskou castou Liptovskeho
Mikulasa.

Okolicné The first written documents mentioning the Okolicné
village are dated to the year 1273, but it is considered to be one
of the oldest villages in Liptov region. This village belonged to
the noble family of Okolicsányi. The dominant feature of Okolicné
is a late Gothic complex on the bank of the river Váh dated back to
the 15th century. It is one of the most significant medieval
monuments of our region. The author of the original altar is an
anonymous artist known as Master of Okolicné. The statuary comes
from the workshop of Master Pavol of Levoca. The replicas of two
saints, Catherine and Barbara, are displayed in the P. M. Bohún
Gallery. The interior of the church is in the Baroque style. The
Franciscans established a school, library and probably even a
hospital in the monastery. In 1571, during the Reformation,
Franciscans left Okolicné, and the building started to decay. In
1688–1697 it was reconstructed and extended in the Baroque
style. The life of the monastery was interrupted by a violent
dissolution in 1950 when even the rich monastic library with 25 000
books was destroyed. In the following years, the building was used
as a hostel and depot. At present, the monastery is dwelt by the
Community of Hallows, whose members and supporters reconstructed
the neglected building and named it Monastery of Virgin Mary, the
Queen of the Angels. In the neighbourhood, there is a modern
monastery building of Congregation of St. Francis school
sisters.
In the 1971 Okolicne became part of the city Liptovsky
Mikulas.
