This is a short hike and should not take too long to find if you follow your coordinates! May be muddy at times, may require bug spray although we placed it on a hot July afternoon and none was needed. Children might need help up the path. Cache is NOT in the rock wall, do not remove rocks.
When I started Geocaching the first person I thought would LOVE this was my Father. He was an avid outdoorsman, he spent countless hours and days fishing, camping, hunting and riding his motorcycle.
On September 24th 1997 he was enjoying a beautiful day riding his motorcycle taking in the outdoor scenery he loved so much. On that fateful day he lost his life during a motorcycle accident at the intersection of Central Turnpike and Rockland Road. He was just 55 years old.
Some people put up crosses to remember loved ones who have passed away but I feel putting this Geocache in place is my cross for him. A cross on a map for other Geocachers, fisherman, hunters and hikers alike.
In Dad’s honor I ask you to always be aware of Motorcycles when you are driving, and if you are a Biker always be aware of your surroundings.
This should be a short hike and should not take too long to find.
To start this Cache we have included a Log Book and Pen plus the following:
1. Duct Tape… My Dad could fix ANYTHING with Duct Tape!!
2. First To Find Certificate
3. A deck of playing cards
4. A fishing lure
5. A pocket knife (for Adults ONLY)
6. LED Flashlight
7. Waterproof match box
8. Pedometer
9. Green C-Ring key holder
10. And…A deer, not a dead one he would bring home, but one for the kiddies.
11. Stan the Outdoorsman Travel Bug (please see Goals for this TB before removing)
Please only take something if you leave something. If you do take something I strongly ask that you leave something in the theme of hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, or motorcycle swag that is useful. Thank you in advance!
CONGRATULATIONS! THE FTF GOES TO THE HEADLESS CACHER!!! You did call it! :)
