National Fallen Heroes Memorial Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

lpyankeefan: Alas, it is time to bid this one adieu. Only three finds after my last maintenance visit and replacement and one of those was from someone who accompanied me on my "Owner Maintenance" run.

Perhaps I'll place a new cache here once the memorial is complete OR perhaps someone else will be able to utilize the location. I do hope so, as plans for the memorial look to be very nice.

Thanks to all who searched for this cache. Congratulations to those who "Found It" and apologies to those who DNF'ed it. In the meantime, consider this one gone. As there is no more container to be found ...NO further "Found It" logs will be allowed.

Geocache Description:

The National Fallen Heroes Memorial will be located on Route 15, just north of Frederick, Maryland. Land for the Memorial was generously donated by Mr. & Mrs. Cody, Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, MD. This memorial is for our US Military, funding provided by the people of the United States of America.

The Memorial will consist of 5 walls, one for each branch of service - Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. These walls will carry the names of our US Military Fallen Heroes, dating from Post Vietnam through the end of current day conflicts and wars. The most recent war being Operation Enduring Freedom.

Standing across from each of the memorial walls will be a statue saluting their fallen brothers and sisters.

Included on the 15 acres reserved for the National Fallen Heroes Memorial will be a Fountain of Valor and a Commemorative Museum with exhibits reflecting on the wars, conflicts and the service that our US Military provided. Along the walkways several statues will stand, inspired by pictures submitted from our US Miltary Members, Veterans and their Families.

The cache you seek is located just off of US 15 and is best sought by parking at the guardrail at the end of Hansonville Road and then walk along the grassy median on the westside of US 15. Please DO NOT cut directly across the homeowners front yard. The cache is a regular sized lock 'n' lock container which contains a stash note explaining geocaching and a logbook as well as various swag. There is alsio room inside of the container for geocoins and travel bugs as well. Please be aware of traffic and know where your children are AT ALL TIMES! If at all possible, leave them in the car while you find the cache. Have fun!
