A quick P&G along old US Highway 16.
Originally US Highway 16 was a route connecting Detroit, MI, and Worland, WY. It was designated in 1926.
In South Dakota it traveled across the southern part of the state from Sioux Falls to Rapid City, and generally along I-90 of today.
When the interstate came through SD it bypassed many towns and many of them could not stand the lack of commerce the new route caused. Like the movie “Cars”, many of these towns dried up, but others, such as Mitchell, flourished.
This cache is one in a small series dedicated to US Highway 16.
All 7 caches should be P&G and are along the highway and in the vicinity of Kadoka to Vivian. You will have to get off I-90 to find these but old 16 is in good shape. The caches are all small pill bottles or film canisters and may not be winter friendly if there is any amount of snow.
