This cache has been archived.

Skookum Bear: As the cache owner has not indicated that they have visited the cache location to replace it if it was missing, perform needed maintenance, or verify that it is still there within a reasonable amount of time, I am regretfully archiving the cache to clear it from the active cache database and open the area to new caching opportunities. If the cache owner would like to replace a cache at this location, please submit a new geocache listing and it will be reviewed under the current Geocaching guidelines.

Please do not respond to this note by sending an email reply - your response will go to an unmonitored location and disappear into the ether instead of being sent to me. If you need to contact me regarding this cache, please do so using the link on my Profile Page

Geocache Description:

Just a short hike just off Bear Creek Road, but a very steep rocky climb, not at all suitable for children or pets. Some great views of Okanagan Lake and the city.

The cache is a small camoed container, with a logbook, pencil, the monopoly money for the Okanagan CacheFest, as well as a few trinkets to trade later. Along Bear Creek Road, a good place to park and begin you hike is at N 049 54 856 W 119 32 426. You will head up a moderately steep wash...be careful of loose rocks. There is a sort-of zigzag crevasse with a good number of hand/foot holds to climb up to the cache...this is the one I used, but feel free to find a different route. The cache is located about 3/4 the way up the cliff. It is very steep so please only attempt if you are comfortable doing a bit of freehand rock climbing...there are near vertical cliffs all around. It may be hard to get a good lock on the cache location due to the rocks. I found it easiest to go up to the cache and then from the cache continue up and come back down and around...it's always easier to go up than down! PLEASE be EXTREMELY CAREFUL.
Congrats to iLarratt on the FTF ...in the dark ...that's impressive!!
