Geocache Description:

This historic area is testimony to the heritage of ranching that has occurred in this area since the 1860s, which would not have succeeded without a way to obtain a reliable source of fresh water.

** This Cache ** This cache is one of the five "Interprecaches" located at Government Canyon State Natural Area (GCSNA). It is in an area known as the Wildcat Canyon Ranch Buildings. GCSNA is open only on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays from 7am - 10pm; it is CLOSED to the public on Tuesdays-Wednesdays-Thursdays. Entrance fees are $6 per day per person 13 years and older unless you have a state park pass. Follow the Joe Johnston Route for about .7 miles (1.4 miles round-trip) to the waypoint listed below. This cache is in the Backcountry and no pets are allowed there at any time. ** This Series ** This cache is just one in the "It's All About Water" series. Each cache is different, and each has a unique "Interprecache Card" that describes the specific cache site and the significance of water to that site and to your daily life. Some caches also have a collectible item (while supplies last) that goes along with the card. Collect all eight cards to complete the series. Watch where you step, and look where you are reaching. Be prepared, be aware of your surroundings, and always bring plenty of water.
"When the well is dry, we know the worth of water." -- Benjamin Franklin
