The cache is at the end of a 15 minute flat walk from the parking site in Potten Street, although the terrain at the cache site is far from flat!
Cache is a medium sized tupperware box containing various swaps and logbook.
This is a cache on a beautiful walk from the village of St Nicholas at Wade along the River Wansum to the sea.
I have kept the cache reasonably near to the parking spot (about a 15 minute walk) but the walk continues to the coast – this would take at least another 20-30 minutes but is worth it when you get there – you emerge onto the sea wall about half way between Minnis Bay (Birchington) and Reculver Towers.
The walk goes across the railway line a little further up from where the cache is hidden so please watch for trains!
The initial part of the walk is on a concrete farm track but then turns into gravel path later on, where the track reaches the River Wansum. There are often some cars here as it is a popular fishing spot (only fishermen have keys to the gate at the beginning of the track).
You will often see swans, ducks and dragonflies on the river and there are plenty of picnicking spots.
Cyclists and dog walkers use this path.
Parking.
Turn left at the bottom of the hill that is Potten Street and park up on the verge on the left just round the corner. Please don’t block any farm routes – tractors regularly come and go here. Walk around the red metal gate onto the track that takes you to the cache.
