Whack-A-Deer Viewing Platform Traditional Cache

onecrazycanadian: Hi,

The low health score on this cache has remained below 60 since my last contact. I see no sign of any maintenance being done to correct this and I have had no response from the owner since my last contact. Due to the lack of response I have no idea if any corrective action has been taken or if the owner has confirmed the cache is still in place.

Under the following portion of the guidelines contained in the Help Center, it states the cache will not be unarchived if it was archived for lack of maintenance. Consequently I am archiving the cache at this time.

Geocache Description:


We've been watching this bridge being constructed over the past year wondering what its purpose is. Turns out it's associated with the Winnipeg Trails Association, and is part of a 48-kilometer long trail system being developed in and around the Floodway (visit link) What we couldn't figure out was the reason for a viewing platform to be located in the middle of it. Finally, while driving under it recently, it all became clear..

Sadly, this stretch of Hwy 59 is notorious for hitting deer with vehicles, and it would appear the platform, which doesn't provide much of a scenic view, may have no other purpose than to observe motorists as they attempt to dodge the unfortunate animals.

Despite the apparent grim nature of this cache location, we look forward to trying out the new trails (and seeking the many caches that will no doubt appear along it!). Drive carefully as you approach GZ and watch out for crossing deer.
