DNF- Did Not find. A log option since the code of Geocaching was created. The DNF, a much hated part of Geocaching. You travel out in search but cannot locate. However it seems like when people don't find a cache only a small amount of people log a DNF for the cache. Why? Maybe people forget? Maybe some people have large egos and cannot bare the thought of someone finding out they couldn't find a cache? I don't know. It's a mystery to me. The reality, DNF's help. When a user logs a DNF it allows the Cache Owner to know something is wrong. It does not put shame to a user. Even if the cache is located after it is still important and there nothing against you. People should thank you for the log. Since I started caching I have proudly posted DNF logs, sometimes serveral times on the same cache. I do this because I like to know I'm informing the CO something is up. As a hider myself it is very annoying to see one of my caches not found in months and when I go there I see a geo trail, foot prints and find no cache. If one of those cachers posted a DNF the cache could have been back up for those to find. So please log your DNF's. :) Have fun!
