Geocache Description:


As of the 30th October I have some more information in relation to this watercourse. It is called "Dry Creek" and runs eventually into the Murray River via Tocumwal and the Tocumwal Golf Course. I wonder if it forms part of the water course that runs past the back of my place which is quite near to the Tocumwal Airfield. The last time the water flowed was in 1976 (all the way to the Murray). There are now man made obstructions preventing that.

Anyway, a big thanks to "GCT Man" who provided the information. Thanks heaps.

An Unexpected Surprise.

Hello and welcome to my 82nd cache hide. While out for a drive, with some of the clan, I drove down a few roads I had not ventured down before, and came across this. A dead end road that ended in a billabong / wetlands / swamp area. It was beautiful, with much bird life seen. The photo does not do it justice. Just one of those places you stumble across sometimes.



Now, I have done a bit of research on this area, and there appears to be a historical reference to a road that ran between Cobram and Jerilderie called "Green Swamp Road" which could have passed through this area.

I have spent several hours on the internet, attempting to find a name for this watercourse, and i can't find one. The area it is in is generally known as Boomanoomana.

Below is a map showing the watercourse. This is the squigly blue area in the middle. Quite extensive, and I would be very surprised if it did not have a name.




Let me know in your logs if anyone knows the name of this watercourse. I would really love to know. I will continue looking into it and update the cache page when i find out...

The cache container is a small bison tube.



Once again, with all my caches, BE CAREFUL OF SNAKES. This cache is near a watercourse, which are very popular with slithery beings.... Importantly, HAVE FUN EVERYONE.....
