Geocache Description:

Kishwaukee Headwaters Conservation Area You are looking for a clear plastic container. When you get to the location, you will definetly have to do some searching to find it but the base location should be easy!

Opened in 2010, this site came about as a joint effort with the City of Woodstock, The McHenry County Soil and Water Conservation District, the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County and the McHenry County Conservation District. Today, this site contains 70 acres of one of the most successfully prairie restoration projects. The prairie plants will remain in full bloom throughout the fall.

The entire 153 acre site is responsible for the initial flow of the Main Branch of the Kishwaukee River. The springs, seeps and fens release subsurface waters onto the land that converges at the southern end of the conservation area into a defined stream bed channel. The channel then flows eastward from Woodstock toward Crystal Lake where it makes a half circle and turns west converging with the southern branches near Marengo.
