The Enchanted Wood Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

exmachina: Perhaps our sustained explorations of The Enchanted Wood loosened the grip of the spell that occluded the vision of the park's caretakers, who seem to now have taken an interest in the space, clearing it of brush and moon-vine. All enchantments come to an end, so to this cache I bid you adieu, but will watch for any signs of the spell's resurgence.

Geocache Description:

This Enchanted Wood could be, depending on your bent, either of the Enid Blyton or H. P. Lovecraft variety -- I leave the determination of which to the seeker, though I have my own humble opinion. You are looking for a small camoed cache in an oddly ignored wood in Madison park of Falls Church City. Avoid the Enchanted Wood at night, and stick to the trails in the day-time.

Why has this wood remained untamed, while all about has been turned to Man's good use; for play, meditation, the communing with Nature -- what dark space within requires hiding from mortal eye? Do the park caretakers intentionally avoid this wood, unconsciously sensing something unwholesome in its shadows; do they even see this wood?

Legends claim the odd vines sprang from seeds fallen from the Moon: Look for their exploring roots to find safe passage to the wood's secret interior. Within same the intrepid explorer may find the Faraway Tree, the sap of which I'm told may be fermented to create a potent drink. Beware the Zoogs!

** Congrats to Dukester1 and Serrabou for the FTF and making it out alive! **
