Geocache Description:

Don't Fence Me Out!!! Park closes at dusk - Daylight caching only, Please. This cache has disappeared once ~ 7/15/12 ? Please watch for muggles and recover better than you found it. We all appreciate it......And, I've been informed that after all the high water we've had recently...the mosquito population is blooming ridiculous !?! Take some precautions. Thanks, Kayakist & Pooh 49 (DnC)

When growing up in Cuyahoga Falls, I was looking forward to the ponds behind the fence being constructed for a dual purpose. They were for Falls drinking water and, as we understood back then, to be used for recreational use. You could fish in the half dozen ponds. We did for a couple years with no fence. In the winter when it was cold enough people would ice skate in the ponds area and if the ice was thick enough on the river and if WWP flooded, in the park area also. All of that changed somewhere in the 60’s or 70’s. During the past 40+ years these ponds have been reconfigured and added to a number of times. We could catch Large Mouth Bass, bluegill, catfish, carp and an occasional 'MUSKY'……er, northern pike. There were lots of very large fancy gold fish back then, but with the cleanup of the river, less pollution, more oxygen in the water and increase of game fish – the baby goldfish were easy to spot. These were probably on the predators menu, and the large fancy goldfish were slowly reduced in numbers. Wouldn’t these be great little ponds to take kids fishing – Other Ohio cities use their water supplies and their collection / containment ponds for recreational purposes! Maybe…. someday the fence will be gone and kids, even old kids, will be allowed to fish in these again. If it has been raining or the river is high the GZ area will be muddy or under water. Near GZ you may encounter some stinging nettles, P.I. and some pesky mosquitoes !!! Take precautions, eh ? Congrats to Hiking Viking for the FTF !!!
