Geocache Description:

Fairly easily accessed from the carpark. NOT IN THE WALL! Version 3, V1 was built into the wall by DAFF/DOI, V2 went when the area was resurfaced.

Hill-man has now settled on a campsite in the trees, so having had one last attempt at finding the fabled (and non-existant!) Round Table Restaurant he settled for a picnic at the carpark lower down the Ballabeg/Colby road. Whilst here he pondered on the possibilities of slate quarrying, but realised he would stand no chance of competing with the established operation just up the road. A logging enterprise seems to hold the most likelihood of providing a cash source, if all else fails at least he'll be warm! One of many plantations created by the Forestry and Mines Department, (in its various guises), over the years, no doubt the present era of felling will hit here sooner or later, altering the landscape yet again. Personally I have no problem with felling, as long as replanting is rapid. The trees were grown for timber after all, not to look pretty. The scars are harsh at first, but soon soften if given a chance. From what I hear, a lot of this timber will be used for fuel, at least it will reduce the use of fossil fuels, though I'm not convinced it is as carbon-neutral as some would have us believe. Unfortunately quick-grown timber like this is not particularly suitable for construction, the slower the growth the better, the experts tell us. The cache you are seeking is small, (like most micros!), but NOT hidden in the stone wall, so please don't disturb that. No room for a pencil, don't forget to bring one, also tweezers may help. The carpark area, looking out over the Santon area, has a fine view on a good day, not recommended in fog or rain! A circular walk involving considerable up and down work would enable six caches to be obtained, with more in the area, but this is for the enthusiastic only. Most of us will use the wheels.
