Geocache Description:

This is the third cache in the HVC(Hudson Valley Council) Rockland District Cache to Eagle series. This series will be highlighting Eagle Projects in Rockland County.
This Cache is located at the Snyder Cemetary in Valley cottage. The Eagle project consisted of the clean up of the cemetary and the rebuilding of the steps leading into the grounds. The cemetary has dates from 1774(before the signing of "The Declaration of Independance") to 2008. Bring some paper and crayons or pencils to do rubbings.

Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout in the BSA requires years of dedication & hard work. The scout must complete 21 required merit badges, advance through 7 ranks of increasing difficulty, & serve in 1 or more positions of responsibility for a total of 16 months. Then he must plan and execute a service project consisting on average of 167 service hours. The project must benefit the community or a nonprofit organization. In 2008 alone, Eagle projects translated in to $16 million is service to our communities. ( based on the national volunteer hour value of $19.51 )

In 2010 The Boy Scouts turned 100 years old. The BSA introduced several new merit badges that year. One of them was Geocaching.

On a personal note I am setting up this series as part of my Woodbadge Ticket. Woodbadge is Adult Leader Training that requires a service project that benefits the unit, district, or council that you Volunteer in.

The cache is a small preform plastic bottle with a log sheet only BYOP. Also in the cache is a patch that i designed for the local Cub Scout Camp for the FTF. I set up a GeoCaching Course at the camp to introduce this wonderful sport to the younger boys in Scouting.

Congrats to Teamgeofrog on FTF
