Geocache Description:

Can be a Cache & Dash This is a small clip box, room for small swaps only. Beware the house nearby is occupied.it is being renovated at he moment and there are cameras on the property. The owner KNOWS of the cache and is happy with the situation.So enjoy the area.

This was a funny station as it was built in 1862 to act as an interchange station. Trains could stop here from Nottingham, Derby, London and Manchester etc. I did hear of instances of two trains in at the same time pointing in opposite directions both going to London on different routes, one via Nottingham and the other via Leicester. It closed in 1968.
When you have found the cache, look towards the embankment and you will see a bridge abutment, That was the passenger entrance to the station.
