A quick jaunt up the Garrell Glen!
For generations, the Garrell Glen has been a favourite leisure spot for Kilsythians. It's a nice destination in and of itself, with plenty of safe paddling areas and a few nice places to sit for a picnic, or it can be used as a starting point for a longer hike up the Meikle Bin or one of the other hills in the range.
In recent years the Glen seems to be used less often, so it's now a lot more overgrown than it used to be and there is sometimes litter left lying. It is, however, still well worth a visit on a nice day.
To access the Glen, it's best to park on-street on Kingsway, at around N55 58.915 W4 03.425, and then walk up Allanfauld Road which is signposted. Past the farmhouse the road turns right, and just over the bridge you'll see a gate on your left which will take you onto the start of the path.
The cache itself is located in the vicinity of a small cave, which is up a short but reasonably steep slope to the right of the main path. Into the cave wall is carved a face - hence the cache name!
The cache is a small plastic specimen tube. Please bring your own pen, and be careful when retrieving it. Also, please replace the camouflage carefully as it can be a busy spot on a nice day.
Please note that the tree cover was making it difficult to get an accurate GPS fix, but hopefully a combination of the co-ordinates, description and clue should suffice. If anyone gets a better GPS reading please do include details in your log and we will update the co-ordinates as required!
