Every time I travel on the train between St Austell and Truro I am always taken by how it secretly travels through the countryside. I live in a rural corner of Mid Cornwall about 2 miles from the track and on quiet evenings I can occasionally hear the distant rumble of the trains.
This little series of caches takes you to some of the surprising and impressive corners of Cornwall where the main line sneaks through, under and over some very pretty countryside.
This cache is a small click lock box containing a few small swaps.
The cache is too small for a pen, please bring your own.
Nearby Trenowth Mill is a beautifully restored listed building although I bet it’s a climb to the bedrooms on the top floor.
The River Fal flows gently through this lovely spot on its way from Goss Moor to Grampound and Tregony. This is a valley of bridges – there are three river bridges all visible from the cache site but the most impressive is the viaduct carrying the hidden railway high above the valley. What an amazing construction!! It’s quite a sight if a train roars over whilst you are there.
There is room for parking two cars almost alongside the cache – please take care with geosprogs and geohounds – the lane is narrow and can be busy at times.
