Geocache Description:

**Caution** this is extreme geocaching!! Not for the faint of heart!! The ways one might perish here include: Fall, rock slides, heat exhaustion, impaled by Yucca plants, wild bees, dehydration, poison oak, or any one of the 93 rattle snakes inhabiting the area.

This is the first cache ever placed by the team of RedStarRuby and SailorDoug. Its a large cammoed ammo can with lots of goodies. We had camped at Treebones Resort and were exploring the back roads of southern Big Sur when we found this location just begging for a cache. Getting to the hiding spot was a physical and mental challenge that explained why no one had beaten us to it. We heard, though never saw, two rattle snakes, passed in close proximity to a wild bee hive, navigated a treacherous scree slope, bushwhacked through dense chaparral and Yucca, and scrambled up slick sandstone. But the panorama of the valley to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west settled our frayed nerves. The view will reward those who survive.

Good physical dexterity, superb conditioning, excellent balance, and a keen vigilance of surroundings are a MUST for this one. It is a short but daunting excursion off the South Coast Ridge road. Four wheel drive not required but high clearance vehicle probably is as there are numerous ruts and rocks strewn along the road. We were here in mid summer so are not sure of the road conditions in the rainy season.

Have fun but please be very careful!
