Geocache Description:

The Shelby Springs Confederate Cemetery was originally established by the Confederate Army as a soldiers home and hosptital and was in use for this purpose from 1863 until 165. It was built at the Confederate Training Center know as Camp Winn. Father Leray and the Sisters of Mercy operated the home and hospital. After the Civil War the soldiers home continued to be the home for wounded and disabled Confederate Soldiers.
There are many Confederate Soldiers, some known and some unknown buried here as well as a few civilians. Be sure to also visit the other cache hidden here, "Camp Winn" - GCB6BE.
