THE MARKET OPERATES BETWEEN 6AM & 3PM The St Andrews Market
began in 1973 as a low key event, meant more as a location for a
barter exchange point for local produce and products and as an
opportunity for locals to meet on a Saturday morning. For the first
ten years it struggled to survive due to the vagaries of weather,
council regulations, various individual’s life changes and
commercial pressures.
Every Saturday and estimated 2500 people pour into St Andrews to
look, to taste and to buy a fascinating mix of old and new. The
market has become a significant event on the Melbourne weekend
tourist trail.
