This cache has been archived.

Southerntrekker: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not repaired/replaced it, I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

Geocache Description:

"Poor Stuart,s Whiskey"
Situated on the coastal walk on the North West side of the Lleyn Peninsula overlooking Porth Ty-mawr.

"Poor Stuart's Whiskey" is a rock cache situated on the coastal walk on the North West side of the Lleyn Peninsula, overlooking Porth Ty-mawr. You can start this walk from Porth Colmon, were there is a small car park (BG SH 19497 34217). The cache is located near a small stream; over which a bridge crosses, overlooking the bay. Porth Ty-mawr is the final resting place of a ship called the Stuart, which ran aground on the rocks. She was laden with porcelain, Whiskey and other general cargo bound for New Zealand from Liverpool. She met here fate on 6th April 1901. The remains of the ship's funnel lay among the rocks, and on very low tides some of the ships rusting steel plates can be seen. Also if you go beach combing and are lucky you may find some broken pieces of porcelain. In the cache is a first to find badge, a small log & pencil and a red dragon key ring. Please note nothing needs to be be moved or disturbed in order to find this cache. Enjoy the walk and enjoy the bays, and the views!
