Geocache Description:

West of the Arlington Soccer Fields. You can park on Arlington Ave. or, if the gate is open, in the parking lot but they lock the gate when nobody is there.

This was a ski jump hill for many decades. A scaffold was built at the top of the hill from nearby trees. My uncles jumped here as kids, three of them sharing one pair of skis. The oldest Joe, born in 1900, started as a teenager.

I saw my teenage neighbors from Orange St. jump in 1963. The last I heard of anyone jumping was in the early seventies.

The jump hill is northwest of the cache, just follow the path north of the cache and you can see where the jump was, the wide opening down the hill has not grown in. There is no scaffolding left but there is an old culvert pipe down by the creek, which they put in so they could cross the creek after landing.
There are links below to several images uploaded to this page showing the location of the hill. Check out the trailhead coordinates for a path into the woods.
