This cache has been archived.

Jeremy: Over the last 2 months I have tried to do maintenance on this cache. I even stopped by at 2 am and muggles were sitting on the hiding spot. Time for this one to go.

Geocache Description:

Cinema Treasures #3

Built during the WWI era, the Ritz Theatre served Flushing’s Murray Hill district, which includes the Broadway station of the Long Island Rail Road’s Port Washington line. The small cinema fell victim to the post-war recession and became an auto repair garage until 1923, when the owner of the Janice Theatre in downtown Flushing took over and converted it back into a cinema.

The latest movies opened at the Janice and then moved to the Ritz for a brief run. The Ritz closed permanently in 1927 due to fierce competition from the larger and more luxurious Roosevelt Theatre, which opened only seven blocks away in 1926.
