Explosions in the sky Traditional Cache
Reviewer Revan: Cache Owner (CO) has not responded, so I am regretfully archiving this cache to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking new cache placements.

This is a physical cache placed near the Odessa Meteor Crater site.
This cache is placed OUTSIDE the gated area of the meteor crater and is therefore available at all times. However, the gate to the crater is visable from the cache site.
The Odessa Meteor Crater is a meteorite crater southwest of the city of Odessa. The Odessa Crater is the second largest crater recognized in the United States. It is estimated this impact occured about 63,000 years ago.
Efforts to locate the main mass of the crater were not successful because the meteorite exploded and vaporized upon contact with the Earth. This crater is an explosion crater. The largest piece of the Odessa Meteorite found weighs about 300 lbs. Today, the crater has been mostly filled in with sediment and vegetation.
