Horton Pond Traditional Cache

A beautiful place to visit and sit for awhile.
Probably the easiest cache of the day from us. This one is hidden away from the observation deck on the nature trail a little ways in. Watch out for the gators in the nearby pond. For years, locals and longtime visitors to Jekyll Island have enjoyed wildlife viewing and basking in the tranquility of a secluded pond. The pond site supports a healthy population of fish and turtles and provides habitat for alligators and a diversity of birds. A .7 mile nature trail now named “Tupelo Trail” was constructed around the pond, giving hikers views of the pond and neighboring woodlands. Enjoy the hunt and watch for the usual pesky bugs such as skeeters, gigantic spiders, the ever present ticks and of course snakes. Especially be careful of the local gators. If you are lucky, you might see a deer or two. Please place cache back exactly as hidden so the next cacher to come along will have the same pleasure as your hunt went. Enjoy your hunt as we did in hiding this one. Congrats to TheStewarts for FTF!!!!!
