This is the first cache that we have placed. This is now one of a series that could be included in a circular walk around the racecourse (approx. 2 miles)and is easily accessible from the perimeter footpath. The cache is a small tube big enough for TBs and treasure. The cache is reachable for pushchairs and wheelchair users with help and would be accessible from nearby road for these but has a slightly higher rating because of nettles at certain times of year.
'There is an old tale goes, that Herne the Hunter Doth all the winter time, at still midnight Walk round about an oak with great ragg'd horns, and there he blasts the tree and takes the cattle'. This cache is hidden within a magnificent spreading oak tree which may well have been here since before Regency Cheltenham (1776). The Bard's quote (above) is actually from The Merry Wives of Windsor but seemed very suitable for this location.
