This is another one of our summer "hangouts" when we were kids. My buddys dad had a boathouse at the foot of east ave. We used to use his old rowboat to row out here to fish and swim. It was also a great place to duck hunt. You will need special equipment to reach the cache. Small boat, canoe, kayak or rubber raft. It is a short row from the East Avenue boat launch. I will be disabling this cache in the winter. It is NEVER safe to navigate the ice dunes on Lake Erie. Consider this one to be a fair weather cache. You will be looking for an ammo box secured in place by a steel cable. I left enough slack to get the box up from its hiding spot in order to easily open. Inside the ammo box is wide mouth aluminum water bottle. Inside the water bottle is a waterproof match container holding the log. Im trying this system now to see if I can keep the log dry! We spend most of our summer on the water. I will be checking the caches frequently. Let me know if you cant find your own transportation. You can tag with us or we can bring down a canoe and cheer you on from the shore. Have fun and BE SAFE! YOU SHOULD ALWAYS WEAR A LIFE JACKET - I DONT CARE HOW GOOD OF A SWIMMER YOU ARE! Aside from the occasional few fishermen or duck hunters, the area is usually muggle free. Unless you consider seagulls muggles! Please rehide the cache at least as good as you found it. Make sure you log the benchmark - ND0187 - You will be standing right next to it while retrieving the cache. Don't forget to bring a camera!
