Geocache Description:

This cache is placed in an area where you can get a view of the headwaters of the North Fork of Ecola Creek. You will need to walk the ridgeline and follow an elk trail to be able to see the waterfall that few ever get to see. (This portion I am going to rate a 5 terrain as it can be dangerous). To be clear the cache is not placed on this portion of the trail. As you are walking in you will be able to see downtown Cannon Beach with views of the ocean, Haystack Rock and the Lighthouse, at the end of the hike a waterfall. At the cache site you are on a ridge with cliffs, I highly suggest being very careful with your animals.

Study the terrain and bring your topomap as there are many a spur roads to get distracted by and a compass on this one. The hike is approximately 5 1/2 miles in, even longer if you get side tracked by taking the wrong road :( You will be walking old logging roads: as of the time of this writing there were not any obstacles to navigate.

If you study your maps, you will see there are other ways to navigate yourself to the cache site. I can't say whether or not you can come in on those roads. What I can say is the way I have taken you in is the most scenic way, which is what I want to show you.

To get to the cache site park at the first waypoint coordinates: Don't block the gate.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ORANGECRASH ON FIRST TO FIND ON AUGUST 7, 2011
