Geocache Description:

A hybrid along the Cannon Valley trail. The cache is not exactly at the posted coordinates although it is nearby. Consult the letterboxing directions below.

Hippo in Greek is horse; so hippophobia is the fear of horses, which are not allowed on the Cannon Valley Trail although they are allowed on similar trails. You may find some in the pasture nearby and occasionally on the Sunset Trail.

Hippophobia is not to be confused with hippopotomophobia, the fear of hippopotamuses, i.e. 'water horses' as potomo is Greek for 'of the water', which is it to be confused with pototo, which is Greek for potatoes.

Directions: The coordinates will take you to a spot along the trail just to the south of the signs for the River Terrace Natural Area, which runs along the north side of the trail. From there proceed west along the trail for 40 paces. There will be a long log in the ditch on the south side of the trail. Find the east end of the log. Just across the ditch in a tree cluster is the cache.
