Swallow Spot Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Hemlock: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

When/if this cache is replaced, please email me at hemlock@geocachingadmin.com and if it is still within the guidelines for cache placement and publishing, I'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

This cache is a small size camo jar inside of a regular size container (if you could call it that). Please don't force the larger container open, there is a part that is loose. There is room inside both containers for trade items. There is also a pen in the jar, please do not remove it. The FTF may take 3 of items of their choice that are already in the cache.

Info Bite: The Tree Swallow, Tachycineta bicolor, is a migratory passerine bird that breeds in North America and spends winters in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. (A passerine bird is a bird that belongs to the order Passeriformes, which includes more than half of bird species! Passerine birds are also known as songbirds or perching birds). This swallow averages 13.5 cm (5 inches) long and weighs about 20 g. They have a slender body and long wings which allow them to be very agile. They have a small neck, legs, and feet. Although these birds have small beaks, they can open them very wide to catch insects in mid-flight. The adult birds' lower half of their body is white and the upper half of their bodies are blue/green and iridescent. The males are more blueish and the females' colors are more dull and green. The younger birds are brown/gray and also have white underbellies. Their diet is mainly based on insects, sometimes supplemented with small quantities of fruit. The trees in this area would make great hangouts and breeding places for Tree Swallows. Some places might be more preferred over others, and maybe even less work to set up. This cache is hidden where some Tree Swallows might choose to breed. Congrats to Soquel1930 for the FTF.
