Fair to Middlin' (far ta mid-len) idiom :
Mediocre; so-so; not bad but not good. (Middling means 'of average
quality.'). "Most of the caches in this here series are fair to
middlin' at best." Can also be used as a response to the question
"How are you?"..."I'm fair to middlin' I suppose."
