I've really come to love walking the trails in the Ministik Bird Sanctuary. My travels so far have revealed so many different characters to the area. There's just no way to get bored out here!
From a cacher's perspective, I think it's safe to say the “front door” to this area starts at the parking spot near Wagon's Ho! (GC11C7R). If you follow the road that starts there, you'll find along the way– yes, more than a few excellent caches -- but also a sign beckoning you to follow the Waskahegan Trail. If you do, you'll make your way through some wonderful shaded pine and spruce groves. Not long after those, the trail leads you to a completely open grassy area (now used as a hay field by local farmers). What now?
I've learned from experience that one is supposed to hug the edge of the field around one, two and....Is this where the trail is? I can never remember quite what to do here! That kind of looks like it could be a trail, but it's not marked!?! You get my point. Actually, there's one more corner to skirt around, three corners in all before the trail continues again southwest.

For others (I guess I mean “other cachers” when I say that) who have trouble with this spot, I decided to hide a cache near where the Waskahegan continues after that somewhat disorienting bit. Now, you'll just have to make your way to this cache and you'll find the trail again! Double bonus!
Have fun walking / skiing the trails in Ministik Bird Santuary!
