Geocache Description:

A 'Cache and Dash' which requires careful retrieval due to muggle activity in the area

Ilsington House is a fine example of a Grey-harled William and Mary house. It was built by the 7th Earl of Huntingdon in 1690. By 1837 it had passed onto the Earls of Orford. However, between 1780 and 1829 it was principly occupied by General Thomas Garth who became notorious in social circles after an illicit affair with Princess Sophie. In 1862 John Brymer, a well known local man took over ownership. More recently it was owned by Peter and Penelope Duff who stocked the house with precious works of art.
Sgt Rock says;
My buddies in the 18th Infantry regiment thoroughly enjoyed their time here when they used it as their HQ. They became well-known in Puddletown as they drew their invcasions plans together. The 18th Infantry went on to suffer heavy casulties when they stormed Omaha Beach.

Congratulations to phillip3363 for FTF!
