Denne brua ble bygd etter en avtale mellom den lokale fotballklubben og Notodden kommune. Dersom klubben bygde en ny fotballstadion ville kommunen bygge en gangbro, slik at stadion var lettere å komme til fra sentrum.
Kommunen avholdt en arkitekt konkurranse for å finne ut hvordan brua ville se ut. Etter at vinneren ble kåret, bestilte kommunen brua og fargen skulle være blå. Denne fargen i forbindelse med Notodden som Blues Music hovedstad i Europa og kommunen farge generelt.
Da brua kom var overraskelsen stor at den var rød. Det viser seg at arkitekten ønsket den rødt som i den opprinnelige tegningen til konkurransen og Riksantikvaren ville også ha den rød i forbindelse med Tinfos-området litt lenger opp elva. Den lokale avisen Telen har ikke skrevet få artikler om denne farge emnet. Kommunestyret er sint for at deres politiske vedtak på bestilling av brua og fargen, var overprøvd av arkitekt og Riksantikvaren. Og arkitekten var sint på at kommunen ikke likte vinnerforslaget av konkurransen.

This bridge was build after an agreement between the local football club and Notodden Municipality. If the club build a new football stadium then the Municipality would build the walk-bridge, so that the stadium was easier to get to from city center.
The Municipality held an architect contest to find out what the bridge would look like. After the winner was chosen, the Municipality then ordered the bridge and the color was to be blue. This color in connection with Notodden as the Blues Music Capital of Europe and Municipality color in general.
When the bridge arrived big was the surprise that it was red. It turns out that the architect wanted it red as in the original drawings to the contest and the national preservation authorities also wanted it red in connection with the Tinfos area a little further up river. The local newspaper has not written few articles on this color topic. The Municipality political board are angry that their politically agreed booking of the bridge and color was over turned by the architect and state authorities. And the architect was angry that they didn't like the winner of the contest.
Well, this is sort of how I have understood this story. Blue or Red, I actually don't care. I do think it is a nice bridge and that it really does the job of connecting City Center and the Stadium.
