History Cache to commemorate the former location of the Morrison homestead.
The original Morrison homestead was about one mile east of the cache. That homestead was destroyed in the 1931 fire, and a new farmstead was built just east of the cache. The homestead is gone; it was razed in the 1970s for agricultural purposes.
This cache is on personal property. The landowner has given permission for this placement.
This cache is one of a series of Lake of the Woods County History Caches being developed to memorialize events, locations, and people from Lake of the Woods County's past. Each cache contains several copies of a leaflet explaining some of the history of the area. Feel free to collect one of these from each cache–no trade necessary.
