Events are a bit of a rarity in North Eastern Nova Scotia, so this may be a first for a lot of cachers. People are welcome from far and wide to attend!
Event will be held at a local eating establishment on James Street in Antigonish (permission has been obtained by Navig8er)at 3:00 pm and will end "whenever it reaches its conclusion".
This event will not just be your typical meet and greet, it will have a special added bonus.
During my recent trip to Alberta I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the Best of the Bad Mega Event-WestCan1 (GC2GA1J). During one of the several satellite events associated with the Mega, I met and had a great chat with Landsharkz from British Columbia. They had Bernie's Traveling Geocache on display at around midnight (when my crew and I rolled in from our day of caching) and I offered to take him to the other side of the country a week later.
He has since landed in Nova Scotia and is going to be available to discover during this geocaching meet and greet. Navig8er and I have been talking for quite some time now about how there has not been an event in this area for ages, well now is the perfect time for that to change...
For anybody who does not know the significance of Bernie's Traveling Geocache, I suggest you take a peak at him by viewing GC2179. As far as I know, it is one of only 3 active remaining caches of this sort in Canada (somebody correct me if I am wrong and I will update accordingly). At the conclusion of the event, Bernie will be placed in a rural area within a 50 km radius of the event, to begin his travels again.
Come and join us for a great time and what might be a once in a lifetime chance to make a discovery on this rare and awesome cache!
PS, Don't forget to log your "will attend" so that we have an idea of how many people to expect and also don't forget to bring your trackables for trade or discovery... There will also be several new caches released on the day of the event (both before and after the event time), offering up plenty of chances at some ftf's in the Antigonish area.
