WU 125th Building the Basics Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ninja Reviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Winthrop University first opened its doors. Now, 125 years later, Winthrop is celebrating this milestone. One aspect of this celebration is establishment of the “Winthrop University 125th Anniversary Geocaching History Exam”. Complete the exam with at least 8 correct answers and get a limited edition Winthrop 125th Anniversary Signature Item.

In order to claim your signature item, you must find 8 of the 10 caches listed below and get the code in each. The code can be found within the cache container. Complete the exam sheet, bring it to the DiGiorgio Campus Center Information Desk and claim your prize!

Go here to get your History Exam : www.birdnest.org/geocaching/125th.htm

NOTE: You need to answer the question only for the final exam. You can log the cache as a find without answering the question.

An example of the Classical Revival style of architecture, Stewart House was built in 1895 by Captain W.H. Stewart of Rock Hill. Stewart moved into the new home soon after he donated his prior residence, now the President's House, as part of the city's bid to move Winthrop to Rock Hill. The university purchased the home from Stewart in 1912 for $10,000. Known in those days as the Home Management House, the structure was used by seniors to practice the details of housekeeping, including purchasing, cooking, serving, cleaning, accounting, and caring for the home. The building has been home to the Alumni Association, the International Center, and Winthrop's Admissions Office and Visitors Center. Winthrop currently leases the facility to the S.C. Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention and Advancement.
