Geocache Description:

The Watford Tunnel was built in 1834. Ten men were killed building it when it collapsed burying them alive. This is all the more tragic because the Watford Tunnel was only built because local landowners were worried the railway would spoil the view from their lands.

In 1940 a woman was killed when a landslide engulfed a train at the Kings Langley end of the tunnel.
