Poppy’s Wood was originally an area of farmland of approximately 30 acres. In 1992 it was planted as woodland to provide amenity and leisure facilities for the local community. A wide variety of tree types were planted including traditional favourites such as oak, ash and chestnut. There are also a number of fruit trees such as apple and cherry. Some of the planting was carried out by students at one of the local high schools.
Poppy’s Wood is very popular with dog walkers
Poppy's Wood has its own car park, the entrance to which can be found at N52°40.898 E001°02.553. The entrance to the car park is quite rough, so you may prefer to park on the grass verge just outside. Although this is not a busy road, traffic can travel quite fast along it, so TAKE CARE entering and leaving.
Cache placed with the kind permission of the landowner.
